KEEPING TAHOE WELL
Since Tahoe Wellness Center opened in 2009, our primary focus has been providing compassionate care for the Lake Tahoe Community – within and outside TWC doors. TWC promotes love and support for each other and our environment, and by acting on these ideals, we are Keeping Tahoe Well every day.
As the first licensed cannabis dispensary to become a member of 1% for the Planet, TWC donates 1% of annual sales to local non-profits that are dedicated to improving Lake Tahoe and its community, to keep Tahoe well for generations to come.
How does this help Tahoe?
Where does global change start? On a local level.
There are countless non-profit members of 1% for the Planet based right here in Lake Tahoe, that are dedicated to preserving our beautiful home.
This means that when Tahoe Wellness Center Pledges the 1%, it goes towards improvement and awareness for our environment and community.
As fellow members of 1% for the Planet, TWC has contributed to these non-profits to ensure Lake Tahoe and it's community are kept well for years to come.
Sugar Pine Foundation
The Sugar Pine Foundation is dedicated to restoring sugar pines and other white pines in the Lake Tahoe region and beyond. By educating and involving local volunteers of all ages in hands-on forest stewardship, they conserve these important native species for future generations to enjoy.
Do Good Shit
Do Good Shit’s mission is to implement and maintain human waste management solutions that preserve outdoor recreation areas and improve the livelihood of surrounding communities. Their story is driven by a passion to recreate in the places they love most, and to leave them better than they found them.
Sierra Avalanche Center
Sierra Avalanche Center’s mission is to inform and educate the public about backcountry avalanche conditions in the greater Lake Tahoe area, and is focused on educational and safety programs to support winter recreation and fundraising to further their efforts.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Lake Tahoe Unified School District
With recent changes requiring at-home studies for K-12 students, it has become increasingly difficult to ensure students are staying on track without the guidance of a classroom setting. Understanding the importance of education to the future of our children, Tahoe Wellness Center has funded a Rewards program within LTUSD, to motivate students to complete school work.
Bread and Broth
Bread & Broth is a non-profit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to ease hunger in the Lake Tahoe South Shore Community. Their meal programs, open to all who come to their doors, provide hot, full-course dinners every Monday, as well as food bags to community members in need. Outside of regular donations to Bread & Broth to ensure they can continue their work, TWC has hosted an “Adopt-A-Dinner” which funded an evening of meals, along with members of TWC staff donating time to serve meals and work directly with our community members in need.
