We missed the intro but Cody is talking about edibles here :::
The five and 10 milligrams of cannabis. Right. and, and so that people are using them not to get incredibly high and, and have like a full on psychedelic trip, but really just to kind of add a new look to your day and kind of brighten up the, the way your day is and also helps your mind move in a different way. So, interesting. But, you know, again, these things are not available in a regulated supply chain yet, so it is more difficult to know exactly the dosage you’re getting, and that’s what’ll be great as it does become kind of brought, as I always say, you know, out of the shadows and into the light. And it allows for, you know, people to provide it at a, at a, you know, consistent and more dose dose level that, that comes with consistency rather than, okay, well, you know, let’s hope that these mushrooms aren’t way too much for me.
Rather, you know, when you’re taking the corner of the chocolate bar, all right, you know, it’s only gonna be a 10th of a dose, let’s say. And so you can start with that. Give it, give it a couple hours, see how you feel, and if you feel like taking a little more, then you can, and if not you, you move on with your day. And I think, you know, what’s, what’s the greatest thing right now you’re seeing with psilocybin? A lot of these things is that people are definitely using them as alternatives to, to mainly like alcohol, right? As well as other, as well as other drugs. But it gives you a little bit more of a, of a head change than, let’s say, smoking cannabis does every day. And sometimes, especially for people looking for an alternative to alcohol. Right? that really could be such a benefit because, you know, alcohol is a completely different thing than cannabis as far as just kind of the head change that it gives you.
And for that fact, it’s different than psilocybin or anything else. But from what you hear with between, you know, psilocybin and alcohol alcohol being a major depressant and something that really can send somebody on a different level, right. Mushrooms at a, at a low dosage for the most part, is, is a much more you know, positive experience that has more of an, you know, more of a way to change kind of the, the brain and the outlook around what it is that you’re experiencing. Yeah. On a, on a day-to-day or individual experience level. Yep.
Howie:
Yeah, I’m, I’m not ashamed to admit it, but I’ve always been a major lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Like one after one margarita, okay, maybe two margaritas, but one martini. I mean, I’m like, I almost have the s word blankface on the floor, so I’m just, I just wanna, if there’s, there’s, let’s just say there’s a newbie who’s trying out the world of cannabis, if they have like a starter kit, you know, something like that where you’re just, they’re like, here, try this. It’s a controlled lower you know, lower, high capability if you will. And as opposed to the other one where like, hi, I wanna buy a, I wanna get philosophical for the next three hours and write a novel, did you have something you could give me either in bong format or maybe just good old fashioned, big joint
Cody:
<Laugh>? Yeah. So, you know, a lot of that with the cannabis world definitely comes down to genetics, right? So genetics, yeah. The indica that are, you know, I’ve kind of explained geographically or nor, or normally closer, or excuse me, farther away from the equator. So they’re, oh, they have shorter days and the plants definitely grow smaller, but they have a, a much more wow, kind of fruity and pungent smell to them. Those are the indicas, which have, the effect of them is, is much more kind of cerebral really make you, make you more bleepy, but in a way just kind of puts you back in your chair a little bit more and also known to give you a better appetite. But they’re not something that you may wanna smoke every morning because as you wake up it, it definitely can, you know, kind of put you back to where sativa’s which come closer to the equator are geographically known genetic wise to come closer to the equator.
Hotter, longer days, huh? The plant grows much polar and kind of more lengthy, but is, is made to kind of go through different temperatures, but the, the effect of the plant or of the oil, I should say, it does get you kind of a more uplifting high and is something that you could smoke even in the beginning of your day because it’s not, you know, as you’ve probably experienced, some cannabis can be very cerebral, while others can be a much more kind of uplifting. And even you could even start your day with it. And so that’s more of known as what’s known as sativa Sativa. And so it, it does on the cannabis realm of things really break down to the genetics. And then as far as like in the psilocybin in the world, a lot of that comes down to really having what I was saying is a micro dose, so that you’re not, you know, taking what we would generally have taken as kids, which is, you know, a dose that made you really, really looking to see something different for the day <laugh>.
Which isn’t, isn’t always bad. I mean, it depends, but again, it’s really good for the consumer to have the option of, of the both and what’s great in the regulated supply chain of cannabis as we have created that for the consumer to get, you know, understood and, and get to know that of, and again, the psilocybin world is, is on the way to that. And I would say in, in certain places, like in the places where it is regulated in Oakland and Santa Cruz and some of those places, the whole state of Oregon and Colorado now they have begun just in the same way we did with cannabis 15 years ago before the regulations a lot of people have best practices as which they’re, they’re operating under at this moment. And so you, you can get these products knowing that, that five milligrams truly is five milligrams. But that’s not, that’s not widely available and barely available. You, except those two states I just mentioned are really the only places where it’s legally available and fully decriminalized.
Howie:
Now you’re the very first person I had cannabis in a liquid format, which I substituted one time. I was, I was cycling to Fallen Leaf and I at least I made the, at least I had the, you know, the, the state of mind to not drink it completely. I took it as small dosages, you know, and I put a lot of ice in it. Cause I thought, well, I can water it down a little bit. I’m not Cody, I’m not kidding. By the time I came down like that, that, you know, lake Tower Mountain over there on the way toward an gora, and I just came over the top from Falling Leaf. I, I could feel, I feel, feel myself again, lightweight going, man, I’m starting to get hungry. And, and I was like like I gotta stop at a restaurant on my bike. Cuz I almost finished my entire water bottle of, of liquid cannabis. And I’m not kidding. I mean, I felt better cycling cuz I didn’t know where I was. But I, but I just started, I started getting the munchies big time. I never thought that was gonna happen just from drinking cannabis and liquid format.
Cody:
Yeah, no, you know what the, the thing is edibles really, at least for me, and for some people it’s not the same, but man, that they have a much more potent effect, I would say it takes longer, right? So once you take the, the cannabis or ingested, it’s gonna take usually like an hour. But that can be sometimes some of the challenges that people don’t realize. Like, oh man, it’s been an hour and I drank that whole you know, the, the whole can of cannabis juice or beverage or whatever it is. And, and that whole can is a hundred milligrams, even though each serving size max is out of 10, if you drank the whole can at a hundred man, that, that definitely can be that, that can be a lot for one person at one sitting. And that’s again why the state maxed it out to where each serving size is at 10 milligrams.
So you always wanna read the package and know what, you know, some of those drinks will make the whole can 10 m you know 10 milligrams like maximum for the whole can. But you really need to read the instructions, talk to the bud tender before you, you to use it. And if you’re not used to it and, and, you know, start with only even the five milligrams, do a half of serving size, wait an hour and see how you feel. And, and then kind of self-medicate. That’s what the name of the game is. But having the, the dosage fully spelled out is so important and so great about the, the California regulated supply chain as you know, every time what you’re gonna get. Huh.
Howie:
Okay. Now here’s a testimonial for you. So I’ve kind of cut back on the news. Obviously I play the news just at the top of the hour, well, not in the nine o’clock or on the on the radio here and some news at home. Cause I’m thinking like, I want Connie and I want to kind of pull back a little bit and not get over stress. However, here’s an interesting observation. There are some movies. There was one with Don Johnson. He did a boy and his dog where it was one of the earliest movies. He did it. And of, of course, everything seems to be Armageddon when it involves the future. And so he had a dog that could communicate with him telepathically. And the deal was after World War ii, the dog would hunt for sniff out women to give to Don Johnson to meet. And then he would try and Don Johnson’s character would try to find food for him and the dog. And I thought, okay, this is stupid. So then I watched it again with Connie and we were both a little high. Then we go, yeah, this seems very plausible on so many different levels.
Cody:
<Laugh> definitely well Man’s best friend, right? Yeah,
Howie:

Howie:
Oh man, Cody, I, this is so great. I just love, cuz I’m, I, I’m still kind of a novice at it, even though I went to Humboldt State and my roommates were way more experienced than I was. But it’s, I started later in life, like everything else in my career. But it, it’s nice to be able to have someone on who’s got the patience to let me ask these questions, even though you’re probably eons beyond all these answers.
