Howie:

Good morning. Are you the man live on the radio?

Cody:

The mayor. The mayor, pro tem has arrived.

Howie:

Oh, the mayor. Oh, I said the man. But you’re also the, are you a pro tem again or what? I don’t know how that works.

Cody:

Yeah, man. I’m the mayor pro tem this year. Nice. Yeah, man.

Howie:

Hey, so what we gotta, we’ve gotta build you a float for next year’s city of South Lake Tower Parade. We got, I’m thinking of a couple of great ideas that would be visually stunning.

Cody:

Oh man. We definitely Howie with your creativity and a float. Oh, I, I can only imagine what will come floating down the parade lane.

Howie:

Oh my god. Can you imagine everybody just looking, taking pictures of that. You have to put the TWC on the side and somehow link your giant float to a site they can go to to find out the latest on all things cannabis related.

Cody:

Oh man, I can’t wait. That’ll be a whole year of figuring out which one I know smoking control should be used to be floating i’s

Howie:

Funny, but folks live on the line as we do every Tuesday. It’s another edition of TOC Talk with cnh, where we talk with Cody Bass, the proprietor of the Tahoe Wellness Center. And also you know what? It’s interesting how I never would’ve guessed, and you probably haven’t either, when you started your business, all the different peripheral ways, you’ve gone all these different paths from like talking to lobbyists, you’ve gone to Washington dc you were in well, you were in, I think, and then I mean, all these different avenues all centered around one business.

Cody:

Yeah. You know, it is, it’s very interesting. In no way would I have thought that where we would be today, where cannabis is such an accepted, you know, thing of our, our way of being, which is what we’ve all worked for. But, you know, today, celebrating freedom, what America’s about and and really having true human rights and, and cannabis is without a doubt in the way of, of what we need access to as, as human people. And not, not a better place to really, you know, change a policy, bring that forward American culture and the freedoms we have here allow us to allow us to right wrongs and cannabis being one of the many that we’ve seen righted in, in this great country’s history. So yeah, it, it’s a good day, good day to be here. Celebrated <laugh>.

Howie:

You, it’s really interesting, I was thinking about this the other day, how some things change at a pretty good pace. It takes a while to get the masses to move, and then there’s other times things are just kinda stalled almost. They just kinda, I don’t know if it’s acceptance or, or will try this or, I think education’s a big part of it, obviously, and, but something just move slower than other things. It just really interesting. I’ve, you know, oops, is that your dog? Yeah,

Cody:

<Laugh>. It is. Yeah. I’m actually, yes, I’m standing outside about to head to the parade, so Yeah. No, he’s, oh, you are? He’s excited. Oh wow. I am. Yeah. Yeah. I’m riding in the parade. Got the top hat on, man. I’m ready for the day.

Howie:

Oh, no way, man. Are you on, is it the city have its own float? Are you gonna be part of the city’s float or something?

Cody:

Yeah, you know, we’re actually, I’m riding a bicycle. Oh. They offered a car, but I figured, you know, you gotta ride a bike. It’s right, it’s the 4th of July, so yeah, we, I’m just riding a bicycle with the rest of the council and it’ll be a great day,

Howie:

Man. You know what’s really cool too is I, I remember I think one year did I ride the bike of the parade? No. I used to host for a couple of years, but it’s been tough lately because obviously the show, I still have the radio show, and then later on at five I’ll be at the idle hour as we count down. You know, the Lights on Lake Fireworks show and it’s always fun to interview people and not just finding out that it’s their first time experiencing the lights on the Lake fireworks show, but a lot of folks, it’s their first time ever coming to Lake Tahoe. It’s so, it’s so kind of, it’s really refreshing to hear them. They’re brand new. They haven’t been tainted by cynicism yet, and they’re just really looking forward to see what’s gonna happen. And then they become repeat. I was gonna say, repeat offenders. Well pick up your garbage. Then they become repeat you know, feos of the lake and they come back up here and especially during the fireworks show.

Cody:

Yeah, man, I mean, this is one of the biggest days of the year for Tahoe without a doubt. And honestly, I mean, you know, as much as people, you know, the, the issues around tourism and all of these things. Yeah. I mean, this is, you know, the, one of the most desired places in the world, but absolutely one of the most desired places here in America. And so we gotta realize, hey, on the 4th of July that is what people want to do is be in a great, beautiful place, celebrate, be together. And you know, in my opinion, this is, this is a day that, that we all should welcome as many people here that, that need to be here. Now there is a level and, and we wanna have a, a level of respect and things that we want to show to. Yeah. The people visiting our lake. But again, I, I, I’m proud to be able to invite and welcome as many people that, that, you know, at a responsible level that they can be here in Tahoe. So it’s a great day to be together.

Howie:

It’s fun though, to tease on a, on occasion. It’s really kind of fun in, in a, in a, in a lighthearted kind of way. It was like when somebody would a actually ask me the lakes right there on their left and they’re going, are we close to Tahoe yet? And I go about another 20 minutes that, that on the left is a big percolation pond, but you’re close <laugh>.

Cody:

Yeah.

Howie:

You’re close to getting to the lake, man. Just keep driving until you get over Spooner and then turn left

Cody:

<Laugh>. Yes. You know,

Howie:

Hey, there has to be something that, that, that just kind of blew your mind, that just made you kinda laugh about when somebody asked about the lake. My, I’ve got a couple of favorites. One of them was when people would call on the station, they would ask, when is it gonna, when is it high tide? And I’ll give ’em a time, you know, I’ll go, I don’t know, two o’clock, you know, and then

Cody:

<Laugh>,

Howie:

Then other, my favorite though, until we got busted, me and two other comics, we went up to the mid station, but this is a long time ago. And on the perfect day you could see the different levels, you know, the light green, the turquoise, and the dark blue, you know, and the, and then, so what we did, and I, we each made about 25 tubes of yellow, of the yellow, yellow, and then turquoise yellow and dark blue. And, and it ended up that way and we would sell it. It all went to a charity. We made like $560. We said, we went out there and we dipped this tube, this glass, it looked like a test tube into the different levels of the lake. And that’s why you could see the dark blue on the bottom and the turquoise in the middle. And the light yellow people were so kind of kinda, they were kinda stupid and they would pay 20 bucks for it. I said, yep, that’s the beauty of living up here, man. And they really thought that was, they really thought that was

Cody:

<Laugh>.

Howie:

Then we got kicked,

Cody:

We got kicked out. I love it. And made 20 bucks at the same time.

Howie:

Yeah, we made $560. It was kind of cool.

Cody:

<Laugh>. Yeah. Yeah.

Howie:

I just, I just think, I dunno, man. You should, you gotta have fun with where you live, you know? And then you can absolutely.

Cody:

And

Howie:

Educate people and say, you wanna keep it that pretty out there. Don’t, don’t dump any garbage or take a pee in there, you know? So unless it makes the yellow a little bit more prevalent. Hey, so are you doing anything special for for today? Any special hours as far as TWS goes?

Cody:

No, we’re keeping hours are the same. Nine to nine and okay. Yeah, we’re, we have quite a few different specials still. Tahoe, herb collection, everything is buy one, get one free. Nice. and then we have quite a few brands. Seventh and Labs is doing a great special so yeah, multiple specials throughout the day and come by and see us. It’s gonna be a great day. You know, the beach is right here and you know, the Bejo, it’s a great place to be watch the fireworks or just comes throughout the day. So it’s gonna be an awesome day, man.

Howie:

You’re gonna have so much fun. So I encourage people to wave at Cody. You can’t miss him. But you’re wearing a different hat though. You’re gonna wear a tall hat today.

Cody:

I’ve got the top hat on, man. Gotta keep it all in. But yeah, I’m excited. Oh man, definitely the parade. You know, I, I got into the parade last year and man, it’s a good time. I, I really you know, I’ve always seen the parade go by, but last year, first kind of year actually getting into it and I had such a good time, so I’m excited. But yeah, I probably should get going cause I think it starts,

Howie:

Yeah, it starts, it starts about about a minute. So Hey man, you have a blast. <Laugh>. You have a blast. Well, you’re on Tahoe time anyway, and your product allows you to be a little bit slower than usual, but, but give a right. Give a big give a big hug to everybody and say hi to Joe and we’ll chat next Tuesday, my friend have, have a great 4th of July.

Cody:

Oh yeah, you too Howie. We’ll see you have a great day and I’ll stop by and see you here in a little bit at the idle hour.

Howie:

Nice buddy. All right. I look forward to it. Have fun.

Cody:

All right, buddy. Bye. Have a good one. See ya.
