Howie:

K RLT 93 9. The lake. I just woke Cody up. I called him on my cell phone. I said, Cody call the station studio in about one minute. So I think I to, I totally woke him up. I feel a little guilty, but not really. It’s time for Cody to get up. Anyway, so we’ll be chatting with Cody for our segment known as toc Talk with CNH here on the morning Rush. Oh, Cody’s gonna be calling any moment. And then we got Bob Zaney. Bob Zaney. Bob Zaney sent me a text saying he’s got a special announcement. Oh, cool. I want, I want, I wonder what it is. He’s gonna retire from comedy. I’m just kidding. Bob z I was like good morning. Your life on the air. Is this the guy I just woke up?

Cody:

You know, <laugh>. Hey, man, we’re here.

Howie:

You were. I’m sorry. I did wake you up. Well, but you know what? You have to get up. Your Tuesday can’t start until we start talking on the radio.

Cody:

It’s the truth. I mean, today, the day begin in some ways, and Tuesday is the day of talking and talking. So, you know, how else do we live? That’s right.

Howie:

Cody folks. Cody, Cody Bass from Tahoe Wellness Center. And hey, Cody. So you know what? I, I drive by there and I, I look over there and go like, I can’t believe the new space that you have. There used to be a bank there. Then there was something else over there. I don’t know what was there before on the other side of the bank. But it’s so nice just to have that whole section as one Tahoe Wellness Center. Sometimes I’ll just walk by there and sniff and see if I know where you’re growing it.

Cody:

Aha. <laugh>. You know, it’s funny. It’s, it’s really kind of cool to see transformation of space and Yeah. You know what’s awesome is we do grow on site. We’ve been doing that for the whole time. You know, we’ve almost been there for 15 years, as for 14 and a half now. Wow. But it is the truth that, you know, we basically you know, grow on site. We make hash on site, but our, of course, main space is dedicated to making sure our products are available for people. And, you know, without a doubt the new space is really just, just transform Tahoe Wellness. But Nice. We really look forward the next few months. We’ll take what was the dispensary and make it into a lounge in an area where people are able to come in and consume. And that’s really like, you know, we sell cannabis day to day to day, but we don’t have a place for people to consume it.

And especially in Tahoe where, oh, you know, people are here and they’re visiting with their family, or they’re, you know, whatever they may be, they need a place to consume. It’s, it’s a very important thing within the realm of what we’re doing. It’s kind of like if you were, you know, going to have a, have a beer with your buddy and you’re kicked out of a curb because you don’t have a place to drink your beer. I mean, could you imagine that <laugh>? And then what does that do? It sends people out to drink or, you know, do whatever they’re doing in the, in the realm of the public, which, hey, with cannabis, right. That’s fine. I mean, people smoke cigarettes on the sidewalk. Oh. Like, why in the world should we not be able to smoke? Cannabis smells way better, 10 times better for your health. But hey, the law is what it is. So we gotta create a place for people to be able to consume. I just, you know what,

Howie:

Cody just dawn on me. I didn’t realize this. Again, the naive, the, the naivete in my name, NA naive, you can’t just smoke a joint outside, can you? Is that’s still considered a a, a big no-no. Or is, I mean, people do,

Cody:

It actually is it’s, it is a big no-no to smoke in public in no Nevada or California. Wow. something that is still very much, you know, somewhat frowned upon in a way. Right. Well, it’s illegal, I should say. It’s illegal. It is. I mean, wow. It, it is. You, you definitely are not you know, in either state able to smoke in public, even though Yeah. You can smoke a cigarette on the sidewalk next to, you know Right. A child and be okay. And that’s deadly. And we know it’s deadly. Cannabis, we know secondhand smoke wise and, and also firsthand smoke is not deadly. Now the way the law is written at this time, yeah, cannabis, you could absolutely, I didn’t know that.

Howie:

I just really, I just had

Cody:

No, I don’t think anybody’s gonna take you to jail these days. Right. I just, they probably could.

Howie:

Now technically you could have law enforcement at a fish concert and there would be no room for incarceration. You know? I mean, that would be a

Cody:

Good No, no, no. I mean, you know, <laugh>, I don’t know if you remember the fish concert. There was, I do a lot more being breathed than just cannabis smoke.

Howie:

I know. There was like a, wow. Hey, that’s, so in other words, for this lounge that you’re talking about, it’s, it’s kinda like a a safe place for cannabis. You can go in there. It’s also a place we can just try. Can you try different types in this lounge area for smoking? Is that it?

Cody:

Yeah. Yeah. Well, that’s what’s gonna be great about it. Okay. I mean, we’ll create a space where you know, consumption’s allowed and we will be able to kind of like sample what we are able to provide. And yeah, I mean, for the most part it’s people coming in, you know, and using or consuming, you know, what, what’s available and what they’ve made available to them. But then tall wellness will definitely, we’ll have events, we’ll have different tastings of our hash and you know, we also plan to serve coffee that’s medicated. We have Oh plans to really bring through not just the smoking of consuming cannabis, but Right. The, the real kind of like infusions that we can do through, you know, whether it’s beverage even different samplings of you know, some of the, the edibles and things that we provide.

And, and some people ask, well, what about like, you know, what about the safety around somebody that’s gonna come in and consume? And how, what are they gonna do when they need to leave? Well, what do people do day to day to day when they go to a restaurant and have cocktails and Right. How are they, you know, we are adults. We better make sure we know how to get home. Yeah. you know, it’s like we we’re adults and the fact is cannabis consumption is, you know, I’ll call it a hundred times safer Right. Than alcohol consumption will ever be. So yeah. We as an adult can have a lounge in a town and know how to get home and be okay when we serve, you know, how many bars are in our town? Probably from the, from the wide estate line, it’s gonna be, call it least 42. Yeah.

Howie:

You know,

Couple things I wanted to ask you. I have some really good musician friends. And they’re, they’re, they’re kind of hippie dippy, which is cool. And I knew them from Humboldt, and they would sell clothing, hemp clothing. And it got me to thinking when I, before I called you, would you, you ever foresee a time when you might have somebody signing, selling on consignment you know, like hemp related kind of gear at your place? Or is that too much of an expansion would take away room for the actual cannabis product?

Cody:

No, you know what, what it is, we definitely wanna have, you know, a full merchandise line. Oh, okay. And we will. But the reality with, you know, at least the way that we exist with Tahoe Wellness is that we’re not corporately backed. We don’t have major investors. We’re, we really are a mom and pop business to a level of you know, we, we’ve done this step by step. And that’s why those murals were up so long, and it took us as long as it did to get this project done is because we don’t have some big corporate backed investment or something that that, that has created this kind of like ability for us to exist in a, in a level where, you know, we’re basically, we we’re still very mom and pop, so. Right, right.

True. One of our biggest goals is to create a full merchandise line, Tahoe, wellness Gear, all of those things. And our new space will really allow us to, to showcase that and highlight it. But it’s gonna, you know, it’s, it’s gonna take us, you know, a couple more months to build up the finances and the resources to do that. Of course. So, and that’s the same thing with this lounge as well. It’s not, you know, we’ve basically, with what we do, we have to earn it first. We don’t, we don’t, you know, and my belief, we don’t go out. I mean, I’ll absolutely, and I have had major help from family and friends, but we don’t go out to kind of the corporate to the corporate realm or to the bankers. Cause bankers won’t talk to us yet, but Right. Yeah. We, we just, we, we come from a different kinda place.

Howie:

I could see, okay, I’m just kind of blue skying here. I, I could see Twinkies and Tile Wellness Center as one because they, they sometimes go hand in hand. There were times that I would always raid the Twinkie Pantry after, you know, after a night of. So I, I, that I could see that as being you gotta find like a cool sponsor or something like that, you know, or, or someone that makes some type of a bacon scallops. Bacon scallops and

Cody:

Weed. A bacon scallop. Yeah. Oh man. I cannot wait.

Howie:

You know, that’s <laugh>. I just, I don’t know. There’s so many natural places I think that would lend, how about Cheetos? Cuz they’ve already got that logo of that tiger. I think it is. He always looks high. Anyway. I think Cheetos, <laugh> and twc, that was a really cool,

Cody:

The Eye of the Tiger <laugh>

Howie:

That, see, come on man. You’re already, you’re already thinking stuff. I, I just I’ll make it a, I’m gonna, in my free time, I’m gonna look for some cool sponsors that might be, you know, okay. Then run it by you first and see if we can get like a meeting to get some really cool corporate sponsors that would like to co make themselves kind of cool, because they’ve been stagnant for a while with the same brand. But then they kinda couple up with someone like cannabis. They’re like, Hey, let’s try both of those. Maybe we can get a, you know, a package deal. I wanna get Cheetos. Look, what’s the side of my Cheetos honey joint, you know?

Cody:

Ah, yes. <Laugh>. You know what Kelly, I mean, it’s honestly like at this point, if we can get a corporate sponsor, which we would obviously Right. You know, be kind of very minded about the, the corporate ethics. Yeah. Which man, I don’t know, they’re kind of, there’s, there’s very few corporations honestly that would probably line up with some of our ethics, but they, they do exist. And then right now to highlight those companies that are willing to take that risk. Right. Very few and far between, but Oh yeah. It would show you where companies come from. Yeah. so man, yeah. If, if we can get, I’m, you know, I mean, FritoLay is probably a far stretch, but hey, let’s try. Yeah. I would

Howie:

<Laugh> I would think any huge, there’s a couple of like Pendleton, they’re based up in Oregon. I can’t think of a nice combo right there. You know, Hey Pendleton.

Cody:

Absolutely. Man. And a bomb. And that’s what I mean, people that I think recognize, I recognize these actually companies are quote, these are good people.

Howie:

And who doesn’t wanna lo you know, have their corporation somehow paralleled with Lake Tahoe? Kind of a, kind of, as a, a sidebar, you know, Hey, where is this twc? It’s it Lake Tahoe? Well, yeah, maybe,

Cody:

Right. It’s like R ei can’t we get high?

Howie:

You know? Exactly. And I’m thinking, I know Vail, Colorado, Vail Ski Resort wouldn’t do it, but I, I, I, I think of some of the more independent, how about John Rice? We call John Rice at Sierra Tahoe. You wanna get high before you get on the lift? Talk to us. You know, something like that.

Cody:

<Laugh>. Yes, definitely. Well, and then, you know what’s cool is we could put like inter west, you know, outline at Squab Alley, we could put them up against bail. Yeah. And let’s see who’s cooler here. Oh, okay.

Howie:

You know what I mean?

Cody:

But all the people are way cooler than them. Oh gosh. And now who’s gonna be cooler? You know?

Howie:

Right.

Cody:

And you gotta figure it out and

Howie:

Then keep it all local. Keep it all local. Cause people are going, oh man, I, I hear from people all the time. I used to live in Tao in the seventies and eighties. Well, you know, and now it’s gotten like so big and corporate, let’s bring back the local angle of it, you know, like, Hey, it’s just a localized ski resort and localized TWC for the locals only. That kind of thing, you

Cody:

Know? Exactly, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And put the, it’d be a great way to put the corporate, you know, put ’em on their toes.

Howie:

Folks. Cody Bass from Tahoe Wellness Center, Cody anything special? I’ll be right. By the way, I’ll be here a week from Tuesday on the 4th of July, just so you know, so we can chat. Cuz I don’t have to do the lights on the lake thing till later on, you know, at the afternoon. But I, we definitely wanna chat next Tuesday as well. And I’m wondering if you’re gonna be doing anything special to celebrate the big fireworks show.

Cody:

Yeah, man, we will have a lot of specials throughout next week. We have a ton of brands that are giving us buy one, get one free and all sorts of stuff. But yeah, we’ll be open normal hours. Nice. You know, the parade will happen nine in the morning. Right. really looking forward to the parade. And, and I’ll be in the parade. Absolutely. it goes right in front of Tahoe Wellness. And then of course, the whole day of 4th of July is always just, you know, such a great time here in the Biju. Fireworks will be at 9 45 by then. What a, what a good day that we’re, we’re back to the 4th of July and made it through that winter. I’m onto the spring of like all time spring. So all time summer. It’s on the way.

Howie:

It’s on. And are you gonna have a float? Twc gonna have a float in the, in the parade? No,

Cody:

Man, Howie, I wish we did maybe next year. Really? You know, with, with all that we’ve had going on

Cody:

It’d be tough. Yeah. I didn’t get the float, but I will definitely be in full effect on the bicycle. It’ll be great. We

Howie:

Gotta do, yeah, let’s, let’s do a bong sideways with wheels and it’s sealed off on both sides and nothing but just a haze of smoke. And then you and I can press our faces against the side of the bong as it goes by going, Hey man, welcome to the lake. Woohoo,

Cody:

<Laugh>. That’s gonna be good. Hal, you’re gonna, I’m actually, you’re gonna have to push the bong. Okay. I’ll be in it with a cup of smoke. We can take turns just jumping outta the bong. It’ll be great.

Howie:

Okay. Brought to you by Yeah.

Cody:

I’ll push you for a little while you push me. That’s such a great idea.

Howie:

Let’s do it. Don’t forget. All right. I’ve, I’m recording this right now so we can go back and access this for ideas cuz sometimes we just fly off the handle, but I’m keeping that idea alive. That’s a good one.

Cody:

Alright, <laugh>. I love it.

Howie:

Oh man. Hey, have a great Tuesday, man. You’ve make my Tuesday official now. Thanks buddy.

Cody:

<Laugh>. Hey man. Token and talking. Here we go

Howie:

And talking. Alright, Cody, I’ll see you, man. Love you buddy. <Laugh>.

Cody:

All right, love you too, Howie. Have a good day buddy. You too, man.
